Description

ROY SELDON PRICE DRAWING OF LA CASA NUEVA LIBRARY IDEAS Color: Black; Blue; Green; Orange; Red; White; Yellow An architectural drawing of proposed decorative elements for La Casa Nueva's Library by archiect Roy Seldon Price, circa November 1924. The item, which was originally enclosed in a letter from Price to Thomas W. Temple II, dated 27 November 1924, is on a thin drawing paper and shows the south end of the room. Notable details from left to right include: the door to the courtyard with draperies on either side; the fireplace with an elaborately carved plaster mantel and sides, as well as a gilt oval mirror, behind which is a flowing drapery and in front of which is a candelabra; a lamp sconce on the wall to the right of the fireplace and a large jar in a stand underneath this; a built in wood cabinet at the far right; and what appears to be a side view for the windows at the west end. Other details include carved corbels at the end of wood beams, between which are plaster medallions. Distances and dimensions, notes for placement of fixtures, and a statement that a free standing oak case and desk were on later details, are also shown. At the bottom is the title " 3/4" SCALE ELEVATION S WALL OF LIBRARY." Price's embossed stamp is at the upper right corner. With vertical quarter folds and horizontal third folds, creases, and some discoloration, the overall condition is good.
