"Royal Cook Book", published by the Royal Baking Powder Co., New York, 1928, 49 pp. The paperback book has a black front cover with the title in red and yellow letters at the top. In the center are images of rolls, pancakes, a pie and donuts, while at the bottom is the company name and location. The back cover shows a can of Royal baking powder on the same black background in red and white. At the bottom is "ABSOLUTELY PURE / Contains No Alum / Leaves No Bitter Taste / In The Food." These slogans are also repeated at the header of each page in the booklet, which consists largely of recipes involving the use of Royal baking powder. An index lists the recipes, which, aside from baked items, also include jellies and sauces; eggs; meats; salads; vegetables; and seafoods. A description of the book is on the inner front cover. The first page is a description of cream of tartar, the main ingredient in Royal baking powder, while the second page is about the company's success. After the index are sections on how to open the baking powder tin; how to masure the product; and general suggestions for use of the baking powder. With wear on the cover edges; creasing on the lower right front corner; abrasions on the cover, especially on the back; a few stains; small creases; and light discoloration on the pages, the booklet is in fair condition.Lexicon
