Description

A cabinet photograph, "Ruins of San Gabriel," by what appears to be the initials R. C. J. D., 1896. The view is of what seems to be three distinct ruins, an octagonal adobe building, possibly that of William Money, who had one at San Gabriel in the 1850s, and two partial walls behind it. Through a window in the latter in the far distance are some structures that may be the Mission San Gabriel. A group of four adults and a child are standing near the octagonal building with a road in the foreground. On the reverse is a transferred image of a couple and the inscription "R.J.'s" at the upper left. With much foxing and staining on the mount, but the image relatively clean, the overall condition is fair.
