"San Gabriel Dam Project, No. 12 [a]," Ernest B. Gray, 11 June 1929. The view, a darker version of another in the accession, is taken from across San Gabriel Canyon and looks towards the steep mountain sides, apparently to the east where work to prepare the slopes, including roads, reshaping of areas and more were being done by crews from contractor Fisher, Ross, MacDonald and Kahn, Inc. While the number is 12, this is a different view from another given the same number, so an [a] has been added to distinguish the two. Identification by Gray, including a black ink line, is at the lower left of the photo, which needs flattening and has creases and light soiling, but is in good condition.
