Description

Postcard: A color postcard titled "San Gabriel on a Busy Day", ca. 1910s. Shown is an unidentified street, possibly Ramona Street heading to the northwest from the Mission San Gabriel. The photo was taken in the middle of the street with an electric car track running down the center. At left is a portion of a building with what appears to be an adobe with wooden attic and gabled roof. A large group of trees and electric and telephone poles are also seen at left. At right is the two-story Grape Vine store and a series of buildings beyond including what appears to be the entrance to the 1861 grapevine, still an attraction today, and a livery stable. A few trees are seen at the right as well. The unused card was published by M. Riesler of Los Angeles and made in Germany. In good condition with some discoloration and edge wear. Purchased from Mark Kittinger. None
