Description

Color: Brown; White A color polaroid photograph of the sanding of the Workman House south porch floor, 22 December 1978. Two craftspersons are kneeling on the floor working. One is in front, wearing a yellow construction hat, and holding a silver-colored sander in his right hand which he runs along the floor. It appears that most of the floor has been stripped and sanded, though there is a section at the lower right where cuts between pieces of wood and a slightly lighter color of the wood seems to indicate replacement of wood. Aside from the sanders, there are electrical cords and brooms on the floor. At left is the restored main wall with butcher paper masking over doors and windows. In the background is the open door to the Kitchen, as well as the faux window to the right. At right is the restored porch rail, posts, and balusters. An ink inscription on the reverse reads "Workman Residence / south porch - sanding / for restoration finish / photo by archt. 12/22/78." Below this is the stamp of restoration architect Raymond Girvigian with his name, address, and telephone number covered by a piece of tape. With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
