Description

A cabinet card photograph of Santa Fe Coast Lines Hospital, Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, ca. 1905. The image shows most of the front facade of the Mission Revival structure, including its projecting entrance and bell tower as taken from across St. Louis Street. The relatively bare landscape in front of the building indicates relatively new construction, with the railroad hospital having opened in 1904. Rebuilt in 1924, the facility became Linda Vista Community Hospital before it was shuttered in 1991, though the structure remains intact at 610-30 St. Louis St, near 6th Street and Hollenbeck Park and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The name of the facility is in pencil on the reverse. With some overexposure toward the left, slight matte curvature, light soiling and some edge rubbing, the condition is good.
