Description

Color: Black; White A black and white reproduction photograph of the Scripps College class of 1931 posed outside a building, probably Toll Hall, 1930. The group of 40 women is in four rows with the first kneeling on the grass, the second seated in chairs and the latter two standing with the last row probably on some kind of riser. The last three rows are on a brick walk next to the building, of which part of the wall and two sets of french doors with iron railings outside them are seen. Most of the women are dressed with jackets, possibly indicating a fall or winter date for the photograph. There were five post-it notes, removed for the accession file, at the center reverse. The four yellow ones give the names of the women by row. The other, in green, reads, in blue ink, "#23 / Class photo 1929/30 / (Class of '31) year." Beneath this is the penciled inscription "170 / 25." With little or no indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
