Description

Color: Black; White A reproduction black and white photograph of two Scripps College students standing next to a saloon prop at a party, ca. 1928. On the left is Isabel Smith, wearing a knee-length coat, dark dress, shoes, and cloche hat, and holding a dark handbag in her left hand. Marge Townsend, on the right, wears a gray knee-length coat, similarly-colored cloche hat, dark shoes and , it appears, a light-colored dress. She holds a clutch purse in both hands. Both lean against the bar, which sits on a mosaic tile floor. Behind them is a painted backdrop with liquor bottles and signs. The Scripps college student who loaned the original image for reproduction indicated the party was probably held at neighboring Pomona College. The image was part of research in 1987 for a museum living history character. On the reverse lower left is a pencil inscription reading "33846 / 21." Aside from several lipstick marks on the reverse, the object is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
