Description
SECOND STATE AND COUNTY TAX RECEIPT TO CLARISSA YOCUM, 25 JUNE 1902
Color: White
A second state and county tax receipt issued by the Los Angeles County Tax Collector to Clarissa Yocum, but paid by Walter P. Temple, 25 June 1902. On a standard form, the receipt has line for form number (58320) at the upper left, stamped number "30", the meaning if which is not known, title, statement of receipt from the tax collector, and columns for amounts of second installment payment. The assessed property owner's name is at center. Yocum was the holder of a mortgage made to her by Walter P. Temple for a 16-acre portion of the Temple Homestead at Rancho La Merced and for which he paid the property tax. There is a stamp at the bottom right indicating the date and name of the tax collector, John H. Gish, with the initials of the deputy. Walter Temple's signature is just above this stamp and below the property holder's name. With pin holes at the top (a straight pin used to affix this document to others in the collection was removed); creases; especially at the top around the pin holes and lower corners; and some discoloration, the receipt is in fair condition.
