Description
A press photo of an illicit liquor distillery, Los Angeles, 2 December 1926. The image shows seven large wooden vats with hoses and pipes in a building with a wooden ceiling and supports. A pasted-down caption on the reverse noted that this was "the largest and most completely equipped distillery ever seized in the west" and was in a three-story structure, all of it "given over to the manufacture of alcohol and the storing of raw materials and illicit liquor." The value of the plant set at $150,000 and with a capacity of 5,000 gallons production and 70,000 gallon storage capacity. Each vat shown could hold 10,000 gallons. With markings for trimming, corner pin holes, and stains and soiling largely on the reverse, the overall condition is good.
