2007.446.1.1Description
Seventh Infantry Band of Los Angeles, California, 1887. The image shows twenty-fuve musicians in uniform holding or standing next to their instruments, with one man at the back holding the band's flag. Pasted on at the upper left is a circular shaped photo of who appears to be the conductor/leader of the band. Its name is at the bottom as is part of the photographer's name and address, both of which are nearly effaced, but the photographer was from St. Louis, Missouri. On the reverse is an ink inscription identifying the band name and year. In addition to the damage mentioned above, large portions of the upper corners are gone (though not removing any person) and small section of the lower corners are also missing. There is also significant creasing, tears, a major abrasion at the upper center, fading, and other wear, so the condition is poor.
