SHAEFER'S BATTERY & IGNITION, LOS ANGELES, 1920s
Color: Black; White
A photograph of Shaefer's Battery & Ignition automobile repair shop, Los Angeles, 1920s. The image is taken in the street and shows the Spanish Colonial Revival-style building at the corner of an intersection. There is a tiled roof shelf, arched doorways, window grilles and other stylistic elements that point out the architecture. At the rear of the building, off the side street at the right are two repair bays with cars in each. Two other cars are parked on the curb of the street next to or near the repair area. A large illuminated sign is over the front entrance and a painted sign is on what may have been a large delivery door on the side street. Some trees, a sidewalk, a street lamp, and a portion of another Spanish Colonial Revivial-style building to the left are also of note. Other than a pencil inscription on the lower left of the reverse reading "207" and an adjacent check mark, there are no signs of wear or damage and the image is in good condition.
