Description
A lantern slide "Shaking walnuts from trees with poles, [El] Monte, Cal.," ca. 1920s. The image shows several men with very long poles placed at the upper reaches of the wide-spreading trees while women and children are on the ground gathering the nuts. Small boxes and large sacks are also in evidence. The identifying caption is written in ink and there is reference to the Bureau of Visual Instruction of Chicago Public Schools. With soiling and abrasions, the condition is good overall.
