Description

Color: Black; Brown; Gold Singer Portable Electric Sewing Machine, made by the Singer Manufacturing Company, 1928. The machine is black with gold ornate designs on the head, arm, hand-wheel, and flat-bed. The name of the manufacturer is on the top and side of the arm, and here is also a spool pin. On the opposite side of the arm is a small lamp. A gold metal plaque, also with the manufacturer's name, is on one side of the column. The model number "ACO89778" is on a metal plaque on the flat-bed just below the latter. The motor is on the opposite side against the column. A black electrical cord is on one side of the machine's base which is wood. A crank and cover, which are artifact numbers .2-.3 respectively, are in the accession. The artifact is in overall fair condition despite abrasions; black tape on the electrical cord; brittleness of the wood base; chips on the wood; some metal corrosion; cracks on the wood; grime and dust; discoloration of the black color; fading of the gold engraving; loose screws; a missing portion of the slide plate; small stains; some tarnish; and general wear.
