Description

Color: Grren; Gold "Songs of the Sun-Lands," by Joaquin Miller (Boston: Roberts Bros.,) 1873. The hardcover book has an image in gold of a palm tree on the front cover and the title, author's name, and publishers' name on the spine, also in gold. The work consists of several parts, the first four of which are long-form poems and the last two comprising smaller works. All relate to the central theme of California and its natural attractions. At the rear are criticisms of the book and an advertisement for his preceding work, "Songs of the Sierras." There is a stamp on a front flysheet with the name of a previous owner and another in pencil above it that reads "Father / 1873." With corner rubbing and losses; spine brittleness; dented corners; soiled pages and cover; page browning; stains on the cover; and general wear, the overall condition is good.
