Description

Color: Black; Red; White Sheet music for the song "Sonny Boy," written by Al Jolson, B. G. DeSylva, Lew Brown, and Ray Henderson, 1928. The cover has the title at the top, with the names of the composers just underneath at the right. At the left center is a white sun-like design with the information that the song was from Jolson's newest film, "The Singing Fool." White rays of the design radiate throughout the red background of the cover. At the bottom left is a pennant logo for Warner Brothers, distributor of the movie. At the bottom center is the name of the publishing company, headed by Jolson's songwriting partners. The score for the song, which is in a moderate tempo, has tuning for the ukulele, though the score is written for the piano. On the inside front cover are sample scores for two other songs, both copyrighted in 1927. On the back cover are samples of two other songs, one from 1928 and the other from 1927. With cover creases, dented corners, soiling, and wear, as well as some mustiness, yellowing of the pages, and a small tear on the right edge of page three, the object is in fair condition.
