2009.215.1.8Description
A view of the South Pasadena area and the Raymond hotel, T. D. Keith, South Pasadena, California, ca. 1890. The image is taken from a railroad track that runs northward toward the hotel and in the foreground is open farm or ranch land, with some trees and structures closer to the hotel and Pasadena. The hotel structure, being the original before it burned down in 1895, is atop a small hill. In the distance are the snow-covered peaks of the San Gabriel Mountains. Keith's name and city are at the bottom of the mount. On the reverse are some pencil and ink inscriptions with information and a gift date of 11 March 1897, but the photo is clearly a few years older. Partially separated from the mount with some edge tears, soiling and stains and with the mount heavily soiled and foxed, the condition is poor to fair.
