Description

Color: Black; White A black and white reproduction photograph of the south side of the Workman House, ca. 1922. A copy of an original, which measures in this image at 2 5/8"H x 4 1/2"W, there is an unidentified backing on which the original was shot. The image shows the house as it probably appeared after the Temple family remodeled it. There appears, for example, to be a new roof, on which, just above the south porch, are solar panels. The quoins and other plaster elements appear newly done. The south porch lacks the balusters and railings, but has the posts. The stairs appear to be a dark-colored cement or concrete. In the foreground is the backyard with the east driveway partially visible at lower right and a chicken-wire fence along the east side of the yard. Within the yard are small trees and, perhaps, vegetables. A medium size citrus tree is at right center, while two larger dark-colored trees are in the front of the house and at left, between which can be seen part of the arbor. On the back is an inscription in ink reading "WORKMAN RESIDENCE / Early 20th Century - South view * / copied from a print in W. Temple Jr's collection / copy neg in Architect;s file / *before patio wall constructed by Walter P. Temple (after 1917.)" Under this is a stamp reading "RAYMOND GIRVIGIAN [address and phone]" and at the bottom left is the stamped date "NOV 14 1981." There is little indication of wear or damage to the artifact, which is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
