Description
SOUTHEAST CORNER OF LA CASA NUEVA UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph of the southeastern corner of La Casa Nueva under construction, ca. 1924. Taken by Albert J. Kopec from the western side of the courtyard, the image shows the end of the east wing at center left. Much of this portion of the building is roughly plastered, though the end arch still has the wood support visible, as are the adobe pillars for the second floor patio. The tile is laid for the portico roof and the shelf on the patio. At the center right background is the arched entry at the southeastern corner of the Mission Walkway and part of the main wall and trellis work. Behind the wall is part of the auditorium that was south of the Water Tower. The ground around La Casa Nueva is dirt with barrels, wood, adobes and other construction materials lying around. On the reverse upper center is the stamp reading "Kopec / L. A." With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition.
