SOUTHEAST GATE TO MISSION WALKWAYEntry/Object ID
99.5.5.114Description
Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph of the southeast gate to the Mission Walkway leading to La Casa Nueva, ca. 1941. The arched gateway is at center with part of the arched wall of the southern and eastern sides partially visible behind dense landscaping of bushes, shrubs, and trees, including cypresses, sycamores and palms. To the right of the gate is a log bench, largely hidden by a cypress. The two concrete pillar/planters flank the paved section in front of the gate. Behind the gateway is a portion of La Casa Nueva. The photographer stands in the road at the junction of the center driveway heading north and Evergreen Lane. This is the same view as in item 110, but taken from a slightly different position [note the palm tree in the upper right, for example, in comparison.] On the reverse upper right corner is the penciled inscription "#1" while in the center is the number "2" also in pencil. With only very slight discoloration, the artifact is in good condition.
