Description

"SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA: YEAR 'ROUND VACATION LAND SUPREME," 1928 Color: Blue; Orange; White "Southern California: Year 'Round Vacation Land Supreme," compiled by C. G. Milham and published by The All-Year Club of Southern California, 1928. The front cover has a dark and light blue image of a bay scene with a horseback rider, Spanish Colonial Revival buildings; a beach; trees; and mountains. At the upper right is the title. A photograph of a shoreline scene on the title page seems to be inspiration for the cover image. Contents include an essay about the all-year attraction of the region; events during the year in southern California; sporting activities in the area; motoring in the region; general area attractions; a description of the missions; transportation diversity; cost of living depictions; traveling to southern California by car; scenic attractions on the way to the region; the mineral springs of the area; "picturesque" area communities; acknowledgements at the end; and a centerfold map of southern California, considered to run from Monterey to San Diego and from the coast to the Nevada and Arizona borders. Many photographs illustrate the artifact, which has spine abrasions; acid burns on the flysheets from the cover; dented cover corners; soiling; browning; some foxing on the flysheets; mustiness; a few stains; and staple tarnish, but the overall condition is good.
