Description

SOUTHERN SECTION OF THE EAST WING OF LA CASA NUEVA UNDER CONSTRUCTION Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of the southern section of the east wing of La Casa Nueva, probably September 1924, photographed by Albert J. Kopec. Kopec stood on the balcony or second floor west wing patio of the home. The tile roof is being laid on the portico covering over the east wing with the lower shelf of tile set on the second floor patio. The portico columns and patio wall have been roughly plastered, but the adobes are still visible on the patio pillars. The portico sidewalk has not, however, been started. At the far right is a small portion of the Mission Walkway with the wall and tiled peak completed, but the arbor wood supports being installed. Behind this is the northern side of the gabled roof of the auditorium. At upper left is the top portion of the Water Tower, including the water tank deck, roof, and "nest" where the flagpole was located. On the reverse above center is a stamp, "Kopec / L.A." There is some surface soiling on the reverse and two creased corners, but the image is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
