Description

SOUVENIR PHOTOGRAPH BOOKLET, PASADENA TOURNAMENT OF ROSES PAGEANT, 1928 Color: Black; Red; White A sovenir booklet of photographs from the Pasadena Tournament of Roses parade, 1928. The item has a thicker paper cover with a flap for sealing. The cover art has the year at the top left, the word "SOUVENIR" within a banner at the top center and, below this, space for the addressee's name and address. Below this and partly above and largely below the fold is a shield with the event name within it. This shield is flanked by a knight and a football player, a reference to the college football game held in conjunction with the parade. Partially obscuring the bottom right of the shield is an image of a woman in a pink dress with a hoop skirt, holding a bouquet of roses. On the flap is space for the name and address of the sender. There are fifteen photographs in the booklet representing award and prize winners, most entries from southern California cities and one representing Stanford University, the Pacific Coast representative in the football game. With some abrasions on the edges, stains on the flap and tears at the flap and where the stamp was removed, the artifact is in otherwise good condition.
