Spanish-American Institute, Gardena, California, postmarked 7 September 1922. The card has an image of a half-dozen boys and an older man in a field of vegetable crops. In the background are Mission-style structures. On the reverse is a printed "letter" from "Emilio" to his "American Brothers" relating his happiness in being at the school, which was operated from 1913 to 1971 by the Methodist Episcopal Church, and its work in helping Mexican boys like "Emilio." With much soiling, some stains, ink from stamps, and edge rubbing, the condition is overall fair.
