"Speller," W. L. Willis (Sacramento: State Printing Office,) 1886. In the California state textbook, there is a preface, an essay "To the Teacher," and charts with abbreviations and phonic markings such as vowel markings and sounds as well as consonant markings and equivalents. What follows are 452 lessons. With considerable wear, soiling, tears to the cloth, a broken hinge, but generally clean pages, the overall condition is poor.
