A colored photographic postcard of St. James Street in Montreal, ca. 1925. The street is viewed from an upper floor of a building and it runs diagonally from the lower right with an unidentified street intersecting it from the lower left. At right is seen part of the front facade of the Bank of Montreal with a Greek temple-style entrance and domed roof. Adjacent to the left is the city post office. There are a couple of other unidentified buildings seen at far and center left. In the street are horse-drawn carriages, trolley cars, automobiles, and pedestrians. The card was written by a John Fowler from California and addressed to Dan Lewis of Oklahoma City. The card, manufactured by the International Fine Arts Co., Ltd., is in good condition with some edge abrasions and reverse surface soiling. The Temple sons were in Montreal, New Year's, 1928. The caption, at front bottom edge, reads, "BANK OF MONTREAL--POST OFFICE--ST. JAMES ST., MONTREAL." The message is, "Here I am on my/ vacation. Been/drinking your health/again & again. Excuse/me not answering your/welcome letter/long long ago. I still/have it & often think/of you. Expect to return/to California in a week or so./ Regards to Smithers & wife &/ yourself. Sincerely./John FowlerLexicon
