Description

ST. JOSEPH'S ALTAR SOCIETY GROUP IN LA CASA NUEVA COURTYARD Color: Black; White A black and white reproduction photograph of the St. Joseph's Altar Society posed in the courtyard of La Casa Nueva, spring 1928. The group of some 45 persons includes about half of the group standing in the courtyard, most wearing Mexican costumes and some in ranching clothing (vest, cowboy hats, etc.) Among those in this area are Walter P. Temple, seated on the fountain at center, Nellie Didier Temple at the far right in a white dress and colored shawl and Maud Romero Bassity, near Mr. Temple at the left. The other half of the group is on the second-floor balcony at the back of the courtyard and on the West Wing patio. Most of these persons wear suits, dresses, and everyday clothing and include members of the Romero family and, possibly Temple's attorney George H. Woodruff. Where in image .639 the photographer stood almost directly south of the group and further away, he is here closer and slightly to the east. In good condition, the object shows little indication of wear or damage. Number-Units: 1
