Description

ST. JOSEPH'S ALTAR SOCIETY GROUP IN LA CASA NUEVA COURTYARD Color: Black; White A black and white reproduction photograph of the St. Joseph's Altar Society posed in the courtyard of La Casa Nueva, spring 1928. The group of some 45 persons includes about half of the group standing in the courtyard, most wearing Mexican costumes and some in ranching clothing (vest, cowboy hats, etc.) Among those in this area are Walter P. Temple, seated on the fountain at center, Nellie Didier Temple at the far right under the arch to the portico, and Maud Romero Bassity, near Mr. Temple. The other half of the group is on the second-floor balcony at the back of the courtyard, including two young men sitting on projecting beams. Most of these persons wear suits, dresses, and everyday clothing and include members of the Romero family and, possibly Temple's attorney George H. Woodruff. See image. 640 for a different view and posing of the group. In good condition, the object shows little indication of wear or damage. Number-Units: 1
