Description

Color: Black; White A negative of stacks of adobe bricks on the Workman Homestead, ca. 1923. At the left is an area, in which bricks are laying flat on the ground. Next to this, at center, are stacks of square shaped bricks and the stacks are about five high. At the right are what appear to be circular bricks in stacks about ten high. What may be a kiln or a partial one is behind the center stack of bricks. Implements, such as a wheelbarrow and planks of wood are notable and there seem to be tree branches stacked as kindling for firing the bricks in kilns. Different kinds of trees, including what are presumed to be walnuts, surround the site. In the background are the Puente Hills, indicating that the site is south of Evergreen Lane between the La Casa Nueva site and San Jose Creek. The image is very dark, but other than non-intrusive edge darkening, there appears to be little wear or damage and the object is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
