Description

STIPPING OF CONCRETE VENEER, MISSION WALKWAY WEST SIDE Color: Brown A color polaroid photograph of the stripping of the concrete veneer on the west side of the Mission Walkway, ca. March 1977. The photographer stood at the north end of the walkway looking at the last two arches, at which substantial sections of the veneer were removed, exposing the adobe brick beneath. The veneer pieces from the upper sections of the arches are piled on the shelf at the bottom of the arches, while the lower wall sections are largely intact, except for a round piece at the lower right. The adobes at the arches generally have three holes in each of them, while the mortar has a very bright white appearance. The adobe at the lower wall section does not seem to have these characteristics Part of the vines are seen through the arch and at top right, but except for the chain link fence and vague views of the aras to the west of the arbor in the background, there are few other notable features. With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
