A stock certificate for the Los Angeles, Pasadena and Glendale Railway Company, 1889. The item has an identification number and space for the number of shares, date, certificate holder's name, and signatures of the secretary and president of the company. The line, a successor to the Los Angeles and Glendale Railway and Los Angeles and Glendale Railroad companies, was founded by Richard C. Kerens, a prominent railroad man from St. Louis, Missouri, and existed until January 1891 and was absorbed into the Los Angeles Terminal Railway Company. The company built over six miles of track from Glendale to Pasadena, after its predecessor built from Los Angeles to Glendale, and then built a nearly two mile branch line to Verdugo Park. The item is very clean and exhibits no discernible wear or damage and so is in good condition.
