Description

Stock certificate, Sunset Pacific Oil Company, Los Angeles, 1 July 1929. Issued to Stanley and Donna Wells with nine shares each, the certificates provide that information, the certificate numbers, the date of issue, signatures of company officials, that of a Los Angeles Investment Trust Company official, and another of a Security First National Bank of Los Angeles official. Statements of rights, preferences, qualifications and restrictions are on the back as well as room for transferring the stock. There is a vignette of hillside oil wells next to a port showing shipments of product and a sunset over the ocean. The company succeeded the scandal-ridden Julian Petroleum Company (of which a certificate is in the Homestead collection) and was liquidated in 1934 in favor of a similarly-named successor firm. With vertical third folds, light soiling and minor edge rubbing, the overall condition is good.
