Description

Color: Green "Studies in Plant Form and Design," by W. Midgley and A. E. V. Lilley (London: Chapman and Hall, Ltd., 1900), 131 pp. The book has a light green hardcover with many ornate leaf-and-flower designs throughout the front. Within an oval at the center is the title and the names of the authors. The title and authors' names are also on the spine. All of the printing at the front and spine is in dark green. At the beginning is a title page, preface, table of contents, and index of illustrations. There are ten chapters that cover the simple conversion of plant forms for use as such decorative ornaments as borders, gesso, stencils, wallpapers, tiles, and much more. Many black and white photographs, line-drawings, and pattern samples are included. With abrasions, light dents, foxing, and surface soiling, the object is in good overall condition.
