A sugar bowl (a) with lid (b) from a Noritake tea service, ca. 1920s. The item, including the lid, has a pattern of shields and leaves painted over a white background. Cartouches with blue, pink and deep rose flowers are surrounded by floral vines and connected by a tan swag on a cream band. On the deep tan rim are burgundy lines interspersed with heads of flowers. On the bottom of the bowl is the maker's mark, reading: "Noritake / Nippon Tong Kaisha." With little indication of wear or damage, the item is in good condition.
