Description

SUPERBA THEATRE PROGRAM, ALHAMBRA, 16 OCTOBER 1921 Color: White, black A program from the Superba Theatre, Alhambra, for the week of 16 October 1921. The program is folded into thirds. The front panel has a stylized square border, within which is the theatre name, address, and telephone number. A description of the theatre as an outlet for Paramount Pictures is given, with the effective date of the program at the bottom. Panels two through four present the week's featured films, including one by Bebe Daniels based upon her real-life jail term in Orange County for speeding. Smaller features are listed at the bottom of each panel. The fifth panel provides information on upcoming events, including a film by William S. Hart. The last panel, which comprises the back of the program is an advertisement for the Temple Theatre, said to be opening at the end of November (the theatre actually opened 23 December.) Information on the theatre is given. O. W. Schleusinger, who managed the Superba Theatre, became the manager for the Temple, when it opened and the former movie house closed its doors, as the Temple became the Paramount-allied theatre in Alhambra. The program, with folds into thirds; pest holes at the top edge; and light discoloration, is in good condition.
