Description

Color: Black; Orange; White "Sure-Fit Captions," a catalog issued by Fine & Levy, Inc., March 1925. The 17th in a series, the four-page document has a newspaper-like appearance with the title at the top and the volume number and date within a narrow black-line border below. Above the title is "Devoted to the purpose of / making cap departments / pay bigger dividends." At each corner are small cartoons in circular borders, regarding the quality of the "Sure-Fit" line. Below the title, volume, and date, is a photograph of a man holding an open "Saturday Evening Post" in his hands, under which is a statement by "The Ad-Man for 'Sure-Fit' Caps" about that advertisements in the "Post" will reach 120 million people. A small caption to the lower left discusses the patented strap and buckle on the cap. Pages two and three inside show black and white photographs of men, teens, and young boys wearing models of the caps with small descriptions in caption form. At the top is a listing of prices by the half-dozen or dozen. A statement at the center talks about these caps in a general sense. On the back are four styles of hats, though different than the caps inside, for toddlers and younger boys with prices by the dozen at the top left. Statements on these hats are at the center and bottom, as well and there are four black and white photographs displaying these products. With a one-third fold and an unintentional fold at the bottom, much creasing; a crease from a paper clip at the upper left; several stains at the back, particularly near the center; and much creasing, the artifact is in fair condition.
