Color: Purple; White; Yellow "Sword & Candle," by Sidney Herschel Small (Indianapolis: The Bobbs-Merrill Company,) 1927. The 313-page hardcover book has a dustjacket, which is item .2. The boards are purple and has the title and author's name on the front and spine and the addition of the publisher's name on the spine in gold letters. The book is a fictional account of the 1781 party led by Spanish soldier Fernando Rivera from Sonora to San Gabriel, from which settlers in his party founded Los Angeles later that year. With light cover rubbing, an ex-libris stamp on the inside front cover, page browning, and small handling stains on the cover, the condition is good overall.
