Description

"TAPESTRIES FOR WALL DECORATION AND FURNITURE COVERING CATALOG" Color: Gold; Gray "Tapestries for Wall Decoration and Furniture Covering," a catalog issued by F. Schumacher & Company, 1924. The gray paper cover of the 38-page artifact has a highly-stylized vine and leaf border in gold with the title in black letters at the top of the panel within, while the company name is at the bottom. After a foreword explaining tapestries and their popularity in the 1920s, listings begin and include reproductions of Soho tapestries; verdure panels; aubusoon fine points and panels; hand loomed pieces; and occasional chair and sofa coverings of the above types. Each is accompanied by black and white photographs of the pieces along with sizes, names, brief descriptions of colors and backgrounds, and item numbers. Some pieces, being reproductions, have brief historical descriptions of the originals on which the offerings are based. At the center of the front cover, front flysheet, and title page has, in pencil, the inscription "10/29/PM." Pages have very slight soiling and the cover has edge wear and some creases, but the document is in overall good condition.
