Description

TEAMS HUDDLED ON THE FIELD AT A HARDVARD UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL GAME Color: Black; White A photograph of football teams in huddle during a game involving Harvard University, ca. 1928. This image is taken from the stands and shows the teams huddled some distance apart at the opposite end of the field, while the ball rests on the grass between them and three referees in white stand nearby. Behind the teams is a goal post. In the foreground right are yell leaders with megaphones to their mouths. In the background are fans in the seats, while a section with columns indicates a covered passageway near the top of the stadium. Some spectators are also gathered in an area above the passageway. At the right, atop the stadium is a scoreboard which shows that Harvard was the home team, that the game was scoreless, and that Harvard has possession of the ball. An American flag on a pole is just to the right of the scoreboard. On the reverse is a penciled number "9" are the upper center. In good condition overall, the item has minor surface soiling on the reverse, bowing of the paper, and dented corners. Number-Units: 1
