Description

TEMPLE AND EDISON BUILDINGS, ALHAMBRA, FEBRUARY 1997 A black and white photograph of the Temple and Edison buildings, 317 through 329 W. Main St., Alhambra, February 1997. A two-story structure at center, the Temple Building was a Spanish colonial revival office block with six units, seen in the large windows on the first floor. The second story was largely false, except for a loft at the center of the building and is seen with ten small windows and a center grille and window. The building, completed by the Temple Estate Company in 1926, was demolished a few days after this photograph was taken. The Edison Building is a four-story building at the right with canopy-covered store fronts on the first floor and eleven windows per floor above. This edifice was finished by the Temple Estate Company in 1927 and still stands. The street in the foreground is Main Street, between Third, seen extreme right, and Fourth. The empty lot at the far left is the site of the Temple Theatre, razed in 1990. The photo is in mint condition. None Number-Units: 1
