Description

TEMPLE AND WORKMAN, BANKERS, CANCELLED CHECK, 30 SEPTEMBER 1872 Color: Blue; Red; White A cancelled check from the Temple and Workman bank, 30 September 1872. At the top is the check number space, which has "15" written in it. To the upper right is the city and state and space for a date, which is filled in. Below these is the company name in elaborate script. Under the name is the payee's name line, which has "William W. Temple." The dollar amount, $200, is written in and the numerical amount is at the lower left. The account holder's signature line has William Workman's name "per W. Temple," whose writing is on the check. At the left edge is a design that looks like ribbons in an oval form with floral decorations around it. Just right of center is a paid stamp in blue ink dated October 2, 1872 from Temple and Workman. There are three vertical folds so that the check was folded into quarters. The upper portion of the center fold is torn, there are creases, minor discoloration, and slight edge tears, so the overall condition is fair.
