Description

TEMPLE AND WORKMAN, BANKERS, CANCELLED CHECK, 6 APRIL 1872 Color: Blue; Red; White A cancelled check from the Temple and Workman bank, 6 April 1872. At the top is the check number space, which is blank. To the upper right is the city and state and space for a date, which is filled in. Below these is the company name in elaborate script. Under the name is the payee's name line, which has "Fredk. Lambourn." On the line for the amount is "on Mr. M. Keller's note seven hundred sixteen" dollars and the dollar amount, $716, is written numerically at the lower left. The account holder's signature line has William Workman's name "per Fredk. Lambourn," whose writing is on the check. At the left edge is a design that loks like ribbons in an oval form with floral decorations around it. Just right of center is a paid stamp in blue ink dated April 6, 1872 from Temple and Workman. With two small losses at the lower left and lower right, a puncture and tear at the center, browning of the edges, and some creases, the overall condition is good.
