Color: Black; Blue; Brown; Green; Red; White
A color postcard with the Temple Block in Los Angeles looking south, ca. 1920. The block is just left at center at the triple intersection of Main Street (running left to right across the image), Spring Street (seen at center) and Temple Street (not visible but crossing Main and Spring). The three-story addition built by F. P. F. Temple in 1871 and which housed the Temple and Workman bank is seen most clearly. Two other buildings in the block built by Temple in 1868 and 1870 are partially visible. At right is the post office. In the streets are trolley cars, automobiles, and pedestrians. At the top left corner in black is, "Temple Block looking South [sic]/ Showing Post Office, Spring & Main Sts./ Los Angeles, Cal." On the back at the center of the top is the trade mark of Tichnor Brothers, Inc. At the top right corner is a square box for postage. Along the left side is the name of the Western Publishing and Novelty Company. All of the latter printing is in blue. Another copy of the artifact is in the collection and is item 97.41.1.1. With light abrasions; small creases and dents at the corners; light surface soiling on the back; and a small stain, the object is in good overall condition.Lexicon
