Description

Brick: One red construction brick, used in the construction of the Temple Building, built by Walter P. Temple in Alhambra in 1925-26. The brick is stamped on one side with the name DAVIDSON on it. There is some tar and mortar residue, indicating that the brick was used along the roof line of the structure. The building, which was completed in the spring of 1926, stood between Third and Fourth streets on the north side of Main Street until its demolition in mid-February 1997. A skid of 500 bricks was sold to the museum by the demolition company, Interstate Field Services of San Dimas. Two bricks from the Utter and Sons mortuary building, also erected by Temple and razed in February 1997, are with that skid, kept in the garage on the museum site. The brick is in fair condition with the edges chipped, some wear, and the tar and mortar residue on the surface. The manufacturer's name "DAVIDSON" stamped on one side.
