Description
TEMPLE CITY 1ST ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION, 28 SEPTEMBER 1924
Color: Black and white
A postcard with a black and white photograph of Temple City's first anniversary celebration, 28 September 1924. The image shows many cars parked on north Sunset Blvd. (now Temple City Blvd.) and persons walking towards the east side of that street where the celebration was taking place. A large American flag at the upper center is hung over where Sunset met Main Street (now Las Tunas Dr.) At far left can be seen the corner of the local pharmacy (which survives today) and at upper right a brick building is seen. Behind that latter structure is where the rodeo and barbeque were held. The image was taken by Temple City realtor and businessman R. Thornton Smith and the postcards were made by the Temple City Historical Society. Though slightly curled, the card is in mint condition.
