TEMPLE FAMILY MOVIE SHOWING, CA. 1921Entry/Object ID
97.7.1.2Description
Negative, Photographic: A black and white photographic negative of a group watching a movie at the Homestead auditorium, ca. 1921. Pictured are about 100 persons, most seated in chairs in the foreground, with some standing at the back, and two projectionists with a film projector at a landing over the entrance. Among those in the audience are the four Temple children. There is a hardwood floor, large alcoves seen at far right and left, the wide double-door entrance at rear and the platform, reached by a stair to its right, over the entrance. The site was the former Workman winery, converted by Walter Temple to an auditorium in 1921, where it was used for plays, musicales, film screenings, and other activities. The negative, made from a restored image by Cable Color of Upland, which airbrushed out a tear in the original photograph, is in good condition with no discernible wear. None
