Description

TEPEE AND SIDEWALK RESTORATION, VIEW FROM THE EAST Color: Blue; Green; White A color polaroid photograph of the Tepee and adjoining sidewalk under restoration, taken 25 September 1979 by restoration architect Raymond Girvigian. Taken from the east, the structure seems largely complete with freshly restored plasterwork; a new patio wall; and painted window trim. In the foreground restoration work is being done on the historic walkway leading from the courtyard of La Casa Nueva to the Tepee. At the lower section of the image a concrete form is laid with spaces for pavers to be placed within and mortared. A graded trench was dug to accomodate this new section. Planks of wood lay on either side and the dirt is disturbed and turned up around the walkway. Some of the immediate landscaping can be seen, including the bases of sycamore and palm trees. On the reverse is an inscription in ink by Girvigian reading "Teepee / East view / Restoration of walks / photo by archt 9/25/79." Below this is a stamp with Girvigian's name, business address and telephone number, covered over by a piece of scotch tape. There is little or no indication of wear or damage, so the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
