TEPEE FROM THE EAST SIDE OF THE LA CASA NUEVA COURTYARD
Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph (two copies) of the Tepee from the east side of the La Casa Nueva courtyard, ca. 1941-42. The photographer stands on the flagstone walkway under the portico next to Walter Sr.'s bedroom. The Tepee is at center, partially blocked by what might be a myrtle tree. Part of the wood porch cover is notable, though there doesn't appear to be a vine growing on it. To the left is a large tree, possibly the carob that now grows there. Around the tree is a lawn, but there is no adobe planter near the Tepee, where a concrete planter is now located. At right is the end of the west wing of the house, including the projection of wood support boards, which existed on the ends of both wings. A chair, perhaps wicker, is on the portico floor at the lower right. In the foreground lower part of the image is a plant growing in an adobe planter, though the planter is obscured. At immediate foregound left is a column next to the photographer. On the reverse upper right corner is the penciled inscription "95% / 2A / Terri" while at the bottom left in black ink is "+17-135 / 19-155." Aside from some surface soiling and a stain at the upper right reverse, the artifact is in good condition.
