TEPEE, SOBOBA HOT SPRINGS, SAN JACINTO, CALIFORNIA, 1949
Postcard: A colored photographic postcard of the Pima tepee guest house at the Soboba Hot Springs resort in San Jacinto, California, 1949. Located at the base of hills seen in the background, the rounded-roofed structure features a large thatched patio cover at left, a low wall at the end of the cover, a vase or urn on the wall at right center and a variety of flowers, bushes and shrubs around the building. There is a dirt path in the foreground. It is believed that Walter Temple took this idea from visits at the resort to construct the Tepee at the Homestead. On the back is a note written from a woman named Daisy to a Mrs. Nellie Stone of Burbank and posted 1 June 1949. The card, published by The Albertype Company of Brooklyn, New York, is in fair condition with edge wear, discoloration, the stamp partially removed, and small abrasions at the corners. Purchased from R & N Collectibles of Temple City. At the rear left top in brown ink is: "`Pima'/One of the Guest Houses in the Indian Village at/SOBOBA HOT SPRINGS/San Jacinto, California."Lexicon
